Chapter Newsletter Awards
Congratulations to all clubs that
submitted your newsletters to our 2007 competition. It’s
not as much a competition as a critique: a panel of judges
reviews each entry in one of several different categories on
its own merits and awards gold, vermeil, silver, silver-bronze,
and bronze certificates. For a complete list of entrants and
their awards, please see the CAC website.
Thanks to Jane King
Fohn for continuing to organize this yearly service for more
than a decade!
Interested in entering your club’s newsletter?
Details about the 2008 competition are now on the CAC website,
or contact Jane directly at janekfohn@sbcglobal.net.
‘Big
Apple’ Hosts Next U.S. ‘Big’ International
Every ten years this country hosts a giant international
stamp exhibition, a tradition now nearly 100 years old since
the first one was held in 1913. World Stamp Show NY 2016 opens
its doors to stamp enthusiasts from around the world May 22–29,
2016, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
Like
Washington 2006 and prior U.S. international stamp shows, hundreds
of volunteers will spend thousands of hours to make this extravaganza
possible. NY 2016 organizers already have been working for
three years planning the initial stages of the exhibition.
The
show’s first public event was just held during StampShow
in August. More informational forums will take place around
the country at major stamp shows as the years progress. Check
out the the World Stamp Show NY 2016 website at www.ny2016.org
to learn details of this show that is not to be missed!
Societies,
dealers, and individual collectors with webpages are welcome
to display a NY 2016 logo and link on their home page. Print
publications also may use the logo to help promote the show.
As the classic Frank Sinatra song, “New York,
New York,” goes: “Start spreading the news!”
In
the Latest CAC Newsletter…
The Fall CAC Newsletter is a theme issue focusing on stamp
federations and the role these vital groups play in organized
philately. Many thanks to the federation presidents and officers
who contributed articles explaining what they do and how they
serve their fellow clubs. |
