Gretchen Moody, Director of Education

The American Philatelic Society tries to help you, our valued members, get more enjoyment out of your philatelic activities. One way we try to do this is to utilize the talent and experience we have available among our members to help you with your questions about collecting skills, the material you collect, and ways in which you can find resources to help you in your collecting pursuits.

If you have questions in any of these areas, now or in the future, please use the on-line form below to make your need known. We will then match you with a volunteer APS Mentor. We will try to match you with someone in the same geographic area, but that is often not possible. We also need mentors to help other members. To volunteer, please complete our mentor form.

As with everything else in life, there are a few rules:

  1. The APS is facilitating contact between an APS member who needs help and a more experienced APS member who has offered to serve as a mentor. The APS does not accept responsibility for the mentor's advice.

  2. Both the requestor and the APS Mentor are expected to conduct themselves within the APS Code of Ethics.

  3. The Mentor Program is not intended as an opportunity for commercial philatelic transactions.

  4. Statistical records only will be kept on the Program. Contacts between the requestor and the APS Mentor will not be supervised.

  5. APS Mentors are not expected to do difficult identification or expertizing.
